As we stand in 2021, the last five years has seen the critical development of social media and other online platforms. When internet became accessible to all sectors of people, the demand for social media sites like Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram had significant increase. Millions of fresh accounts were created daily and communication became a lot easier with these platforms. But from these newly created accounts, most of them were fake and was created by hackers. They used them to hack Facebook, Instagram and other media.
In this blog I am going to expalin on how I recovered my hacked Facebook account.
Nowadays, we are constantly hearing news about Facebook hacking and at times the consequences are high. Hackers mainly plant their trap inside malicious links or any sales attachments through Facebook. But, the younger generation is aware of these kinds of trap and they protect themselves from falling for such traps and risking their account. Let me share my personal experience about Facebook hack with you. A few months back, my Facebook page was hacked. It nearly had 20 k followers. One fine day when I checked my account, it was completely wiped off and it left me shocked. I really worked hard to achieve this milestone and I lost them in a minute. But I didn’t give up!
The day my Facebook got hacked, I received an official message from Facebook stating that by analysing my Facebook page activity; I have been reported violating the Terms and Conditions of Facebook. Due to the same reason, my account has been suspended. They also acknowledged that in case if this is a mistake, I can verify my account using the link given. Through verification, it will be clear that if I have violated any terms and condition. After verification, Facebook will contact you through email for the further process.
As soon as I saw this, I believed it to be legitimate and I partly believed it because I had done certain copyright infringement with some of my posts. Without even giving it a second thought or checking the genuinity of the message, I clicked the link. Little did I know that it was the beginning of the Facebook hacking process.
The link took me to a Facebook phishing page which asked me to enter my personal details. I patiently filled all of them and waited for my profile to be reviewed. Thinking that it would get OK, it left it there and started for work.
After a few hours, I tried to login to my account and this time my email address was showing incorrect and not the password. I had an inner voice that it might be a Facebook hack, but I was not sure. An alert popped up saying that my email address was not linked to my Facebook account. This left me perplexed. Then I tried to log in with the default email ID Facebook provided. This helped me to get in but after that I started to realize that there were some serious issue. We don’t really know from where and how Facebook hack occurs.
Facebook alerted me that someone from another region had tried to login to my page but I think he got more than that. He got the complete access to my account and with that he managed to change my email address. Apart from this, he also posted 18+ images and videos in the wall of other people using my account. This sent chills to my nerves and I was pretty tensed because, this account was linked to my credit card and other online payment applications.
I tried to contact the page, but I couldn’t. I tried to post on the wall but I got banned. The Facebook hack has totally left me devastated.
Then I started to bargain with the hacker. He demanded 1000$ for returning my page and he insisted to send them through western union or MoneyGram. After a long conversation process, he started to open up. He was having an online site through which he was struggling to make money. With my experiences in this field, I shared some tips which could help him grow. It took 2 days to strength our communication and after that he gave back my page to me. Once I got back my page, I instantly knocked him off my page and changed all my login details.
But, once in a week we will have discussions about Facebook hacking as well as online marketing. This experience made me understand that not all bad things end up negatively, some will have a positive ending. One of my fearful online experience, turned out to be a fascinating one.
In today’s society, everyone is vulnerable to Facebook hack and it is our responsibility to take necessary preventive measures to safeguard from Facebook hack.
